Improve Your CV with our expert CV Help

Receiving the response, "We would like you to attend an Interview", is what your CV should be getting.
A smart and successful jobseeker understands that a good CV is central to winning interviews. You can transform your CV so it presents your skills, achievements and qualities in a much better light.
The difference of an interview winning CV is surprisingly simple and it is worthwhile spending the time to improve yours.
You must write your CV from the perspective of the receiver. So write about what you can do for them and use your achievements and talents as proof.
Achievements are all about what you did to reach successful outcomes. Everyone can double their list of achievements when they really think about it. You will have at least ten achievements that are currently not on your CV. Achievements are important as they show you as a 'Can Do' person, who can solve their problems.
Ask yourself these questions?
  • What three qualities would my colleagues say I possess?
  • What references or commendations can I directly quote from a previous employer?
  • What ten achievements am I most proud of in my career?
And come up with things like:
  • Improved the accounting system in the company.
  • Was promoted within the first six months of employment.
  • Saved over £100,000 by suggesting a new process.
Your achievements should be articulated in a manner that conveys the skills you utilised to achieve your successes. So think about the situation or problem you were tasked with, the action you took to resolve the issue and the skills that this demonstrated.
By structuring your achievements by Situation, Task, Action and Results you will be better placed to write them in a way that demonstrates how your talents can benefit the CV recipient. For example you could say:
"I used my leadership skills in motivating and inspiring my staff which increased their sales performance by 20%. This skill was also proven when I Captained the staff Football team and we moved to top of the inter-branch league."
Sentences about achievements should start with positive verbs. So use words like enhanced, motivated, inspired, created etc. within your CV.
